REDUCE YOUR PLASTIC CHALLENGE!! ♻️ In honor of Earth Day, I have partnered with @seedphytonutrients for a fun 7-day challenge to reduce my plastic use and I want you to join me (πŸŽπŸŽ‰and you could win some amazing beauty goodies!)!! Here are 5 easy ways you can reduce your plastic with me this week: 1️⃣Swap out plastic water bottle use for a reusable water bottle 2️⃣ Use sustainable (and AMAZING beauty products). Both of which can be composted and recycled after use! 3️⃣Switch out plastic food containers (ziplock bags, plastic fruit containers) for reusable or biodegradable products. YOGA TIP! πŸ‘‰πŸΌ Today I want to show you some of the biggest form mistakes and problems I see when people practice Staff Pose (Dandasana) in case you missed it! πŸ’˜ In the before photo there are a few big issues here that could cause serious injury and hurt your practice: 1️⃣ My lower back and upper back are completely ROUNDED πŸ™ˆ!! In yoga sometimes the most simple poses can be the hardest! In staff pose you should have straight posture in your spine. You can fix the rounding by engaging the core, lifting up through the back of the body (imagine someone is pulling you with a string from the top of your head), and bringing your front ribs to your hip bones (knit your core together!)πŸ’˜ 2️⃣ My thighs are not engaged causing my thighs and feet to roll outwards!! πŸ‘‰πŸΌ The biggest misconception in seated poses is that your body is relaxed, when in fact your muscles need to be engaged! You want to reach through your heels, flex your feet, spin your inner thighs to the floor and lift up through your shins and quads. Think strong engaged legs as if you were standing (only sitting!) πŸ™πŸΌπŸ˜ 3️⃣ My arms in the before photo are basically limp noodles 🍝 πŸ˜‚!! Your arms are there for support and strength. Spread your palms and press down into the ground and engage your triceps! Also make sure your shoulders are drawn back and your shoulder blades are in towards your chest. Remember all of your body needs to work together to achieve your most effective form!! πŸ’˜ πŸ‘‰πŸΌ Want some modifications to work your way to the "After" photo? If you have tight hamstrings it is always ok to bend your knees or take your feet hip distance apart.
