Practice Self Love

Self Love

Self love is something you should practice everyday, but most importantly today. Today is International Self Love Day! I am a firm believer that the relationship you have with yourself is the most important relationship you will ever have in your life. By practicing self love you will boost self esteem, become happier and feel confident in your everyday life. Here are some great ways to practice self love today and everyday!

– Stop comparing yourself to others! Comparison is truly the thief of joy. If we sat around all day wishing we were someone else or had something someone else had we are going to miss all of the great things that could be in our life. Instead of comparing yourself and feeling jealousy, think about what it is you feel you’re lacking in your life and focus your energy on changing your path to go in the right direction! The only person you should compare yourself with is the person you were yesterday!

– Try not to speak negatively about yourself. If someone gives you a compliment, take it! I think we all have a hard time taking compliments but practice saying thank you instead of saying something negative about yourself in return. We are always our own toughest critic but it is nice to receive a compliment in it’s entirety and help it gives us a little confidence boost for the day.

– Be good to your body. Self love means taking care of yourself. This could mean so many different things to everyone but think about what makes your body feel good. For me it’s taking a Pure Barre class, getting plenty of sleep, treating myself to a massage once in a while and eating nutritious food. I love the quote “Take care of your body it is the only place you have to live.”

– Do the things you have been putting off. We have so many things we want to do, but we always make excuses. This may be following a passion, getting back in the gym, traveling, etc. Whatever it may be don’t let another day go by without doing something that is important to you! Life is so short, do something today that your future self will thank you for. We only get one life don’t waste the precious gift of time!

Practicing self love doesn’t mean that you’re selfish. It just means that you are recognizing that you are included in the list of priorities in your life! Wishing everyone a wonderful weekend!

  1. I absolutely love your last line, “Practicing self love doesn’t mean that you’re selfish. It just means that you are recognizing that you are included in the list of priorities in your life!”

I need to learn to say no more and make myself a priority 🙂
